The Mets had a promising game, showcasing strong hitting and pitching. After a tough loss the day before, players like Pete Alonso and Juan Soto shone, exhibiting patience and confidence at the plate. Tylor Megill's pitching was particularly impressive, displaying conviction and effective command against the Astros lineup. Despite early challenges, he managed to navigate critical situations with notable performances, leading the Mets to a gratifying win that highlighted their potential going forward.
The hitters were selective again - Pete Alonso in particular has kept his aggression channeled, avoiding the panicky, I ALONE CAN FIX IT ABs he too often falls prey to.
On the pitching side, at least for one night Tylor Megill looked like the Tylor Megill that the sabermetrically inclined keep insisting is in there somewhere.
Juan Soto looks Sotoesque, which is wonderful to see up close on a nightly basis.
That extended a 2-0 Mets lead built with the help of some Houston infield slapstick to 3-0.
