The Mets' offensive explosion continues, as they banged out 14 hits and six runs en route to a 6-1 win over the Royals Friday night at Citi Field.
Pete Alonso capped the scoring with a solo homer in the eighth inning, his fourth of the year.
Luis Severino got his first win as a Met. He gave up a solo homer but that was his only hit allowed in five innings. But it was a slog, as he allowed four walks.
The Mets' win snapped a 7-game winning streak - although four of those came against the lowly White Sox - for the Royals and gave the first step in revenge for last year's sweep in Kansas City that happened right after the trade deadline.
