Exclusive | Mets fanatic honored by team after attending 50 consecutive home openers
Briefly

John "JC" Cannon, a devoted Mets fan from Bay Ridge, celebrated an incredible milestone of attending 50 consecutive home openers at CitiField, a testament to his loyalty. Accompanied by 24 family members, Cannon relished this year’s exciting game that featured pitcher Pete Alonso's first-inning homer. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized how the Mets have become his family over the years. Humorously recalling how he had to recreate a walk to the stadium, he cherishes his enduring bond with the team and its community amidst its challenges.
"I had no idea this was going to go for 50 years but it has and it'll keep going as long as I'm healthy," Cannon told The Post.
"The Mets have become my family," Cannon shared, reflecting on his enduring loyalty to the team through its highs and lows.
"Over the years, as I told people the miles got longer and longer and longer, but Google Maps said it's just 8 miles," Cannon humorously noted.
Cannon's first home opener was back in 1975 when the Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies, a nail-biting contest that the Amazins won 2-1.
