Exclusive | Kodai Senga happy to deliver for Mets with his presence more important than ever
Briefly

During live batting practice at Spring Training, Mets pitcher Kodai Senga and catcher Francisco Alvarez engaged in friendly banter. Alvarez hit a deep drive that fell short of the fence, attributing it to the wind. Senga responded humorously, indicating that Alvarez should have capitalized on the pitch and driven the ball out. This interaction underscores the light-hearted, competitive spirit of Spring Training as players fine-tune their skills before the season starts.
Francisco Alvarez stood at home plate watching his long drive die in front of the left field fence during live batting practice Wednesday. In a good-natured jab, Alvarez let the pitcher, Kodai Senga, know that the wind at Clover Park had prevented the ball from traveling out.
Senga had his own perspective. 'That is a mispitch, so he needs to drive that thing out of here,' Senga later said through an interpreter.
