The Mets faced off against the White Sox during an unexpectedly scheduled day game due to rain forecasts, which seemingly affected their performance. The White Sox capitalized on the Mets' struggles, winning 9-4 and showcasing a former Mets pitching prospect who excelled against his old teammates. Despite a fleeting moment of hope with a three-run homer from Mark Vientos, the Mets were unable to find their rhythm. Additionally, pitcher Brandon Waddell made a brief appearance, showcasing his journey through various leagues, including successful stints abroad.
The change in their schedule, necessitated by a rainy forecast, didn't appear to sit well with them. The White Sox, adhering to the same alteration of routine, responded better.
The Sox featured one of our former pitching prospects, mowing down his erstwhile acquaintances and would-be teammates for three scoreless middle innings.
Other than a Mark Vientos three-run homer that briefly created the illusion of a close ballgame, the only thing the Mets had going for them on Wednesday afternoon was successfully dodging raindrops.
Waddell has dropped by lots of towns in lots of leagues since turning pro in 2015. A two-year detour in Asia seemed to do him a world of good.
