Weird Islanders: The Podcast! - Episode 45 - Al Montoya (with guest Nick Giglia)
Briefly

Montoya had all the makings of an Islanders villain including getting drafted high by the Rangers and a preseason fight against Rick DiPietro. But after years of being blocked by other goalies on nearly every team he was on, a rash of injuries across the country and a favor by a sympathetic GM landed him on Long Island in the middle of an already crazy season.
His one shutout with the Islanders came against the Kings, with Matt Moulson scoring twice against his brother-in-law, Jonathan Quick. After his great debut season, Montoya signed a one-year extension with the club. This collision with Evander Kane in a game against Winnipeg caused Montoya a concussion and derailed his Islanders career.
