New York Islanders prospect Ruslan Iskhakov was recalled from the team's AHL affiliate in Bridgeport to make his NHL debut on Wednesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Iskhakov, a Moscow native selected in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft, had a successful AHL tenure with 104 points in 178 games and was an All-Star this season.
Head coach Patrick Roy chose to pair Iskhakov with veteran center Jean-Gabriel Pageau, following the Islanders' tradition of pairing younger prospects with experienced players upon their NHL debut.
