The New York Islanders clinched the No. 3 seed in the Metropolitan Division after defeating the New Jersey Devils and will face the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The Islanders had a bumpy path to the playoffs, including a coaching change and inconsistent performances, but finished the season strong by winning seven of their last eight games.
