Islanders president Lou Lamoriello stated that Anthony Duclair's leg injury is 'more long term than short term' but not season-ending, pending further X-rays and MRIs.
Duclair, a free agent signed to a four-year, $14 million deal, suffered an injury while trying to navigate past two defenders, leaving him unable to put weight on his right leg.
With Duclair injured, the Islanders will recall a forward from their AHL team in Bridgeport to fill his roster spot, potentially Pierre Engvall.
Anthony Duclair, now playing for his ninth NHL franchise, recorded two goals and an assist in his first five games with the Islanders before the injury.
