"Cisco was the Jets' opening-day starter last season, but he played only eight games due to a season-ending pectoral injury. To fortify the position, the Jets traded for former Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and signed former New York Giants safety Dane Belton earlier this week."
"After four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cisco signed a one-year, $8.5 million contract last year with the Jets, who were looking for a playmaker at safety. They didn't get much production out of Cisco, who got his hands on only one pass -- a breakup, not an interception."
"Though he's coming off two down years, Cisco did show promise during his early seasons with the Jaguars, who drafted him in the 2021 third round. When lined up as a high safety, he's one of six players in the league with at least eight interceptions and one defensive touchdown."
The New York Jets signed safety Andre Cisco to a one-year, $5.25 million contract to strengthen their secondary. Cisco was the Jets' starting safety last season but played only eight games before suffering a season-ending pectoral injury. The Jets are bolstering their safety position by also trading for former Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and signing former Giants safety Dane Belton. Cisco, who grew up in the New York City area and was a Jets fan as a child, had limited production during his first year with the team, contributing to the Jets becoming the first team in NFL history to record zero interceptions in an entire season. Despite recent struggles, Cisco showed promise during his early Jacksonville Jaguars seasons and has eight career interceptions when lined up as a high safety.
