The New York Dragons have officially named Gerald Filardi as their new head coach and Director of Football Operations for the upcoming 2025 season in the Entertainment Football Association (ENTFLA). Filardi, a former Pittsburgh Steelers player and current high school coach, expressed enthusiasm for building a competitive team and is particularly focused on recruiting local talent from colleges. He initially considered the position with some hesitation but ultimately became excited about the opportunity to lead the team toward a potential championship.
"There's a lot of work to be done with a new league, which is exciting," Filardi told The Post, adding that he's already looking at local colleges like Stony Brook for homegrown recruits.
"A former player's dad reached out ... and I kind of laughed it off, to be honest," he candidly said. "Then it got in the back of my head and I thought, 'I really would be interested in this.' ... It's exciting, we're going to be in a mix for a championship."
