Earl Albert, a Massachusetts widower who donated a tree he planted with his late wife, Leslie, faces health challenges ahead of its Rockefeller Center lighting.
Feeling the immense personal connection to the tree, which he called a tribute to his late wife, Albert expressed that donating it was one of the greatest honors of his life.
The decision to donate the tree was made shortly after the passing of Albert's wife, Leslie, which he interpreted as a sign from her.
Albert's Norway spruce, the first to be used at Rockefeller Center from outside New York since 1959, stands 74 feet tall and weighs 11 tons.
