The jury found Dutra liable on four of five complaints: sexual battery, molesting or annoying a child, and lewd conduct, ordering him to pay $1.133 million.
The incident occurred in 2005, during a family vacation, when Siefke was 12 years old. He alleged unwanted advances and touching by Dutra, who was 30.
Siefke, now 31, spoke of guilt and shame after the incident and delayed reporting it due to embarrassment, which later prompted his civil lawsuit.
Dutra's previous reputation as a youth advocate was undermined by the allegations, leading to his disassociation from previous youth work after the lawsuit was filed.
