Briefly

"Austin had a very infectious smile and a character that made him one of a kind," said Police Chief Scott Wahl, emotionally reflecting on Officer Machitar.
"His wounds are extremely grave," said Mayor Todd Gloria, speaking about Officer Martinez’s critical condition following the crash.
"We all know the hazards, but it's days like today that are a very real reminder just how dangerous the job is," Wahl remarked during the news conference.
The pursuit ended tragically when the fleeing driver crashed into Officer Machitar's vehicle, resulting in both their deaths and severe injuries to Martinez.
