"WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn ( PIX11) - Two teen girls were found dead at a Brooklyn subway station early Saturday morning after subway surfing, sources told Nexstar's PIX11 News. The two girls were pronounced dead at the scene after authorities found them unconscious and unresponsive at the Marcy Ave/Broadway subway station in Williamsburg around 3:10 a.m., sources said. The girls were unidentified but appeared to be between 13 to 15-years-old, according to sources."
"It's heartbreaking that two young girls are gone because they somehow thought riding outside a subway train was an acceptable game. Parents, teachers, and friends need to be clear with loved ones: getting on top of a subway car isn't "surfing"-it's suicide. I'm thinking of both the grieving families, and transit workers who discovered these children, all of whom have been horribly shaken by this tragedy."
Two teenage girls, estimated 13 to 15, were found unconscious and unresponsive and pronounced dead at the Marcy Ave/Broadway subway station in Williamsburg around 3:10 a.m. The deaths followed subway surfing. Year to date, at least three people have died from subway surfing and the NYPD has apprehended 114 subway surfers so far this year. NYC Transit President Demetrius Crichlow called riding on top of a subway car suicide and urged parents, teachers, and friends to warn loved ones. Transit workers who discovered the children and grieving families were described as horribly shaken by the tragedy.
