Two passengers assaulted on NYC subway less than 12 hours apart: cops
Briefly

The 28-year-old woman had just gotten off an uptown No. 3 train at West 96th Street and Broadway around 5:15 a.m. when a man ambushed her with a sudden blow to the face, police said. The victim was treated on the scene, and the attacker - who did not know her - fled and was still at large later in the morning, cops said.
In a separate attack Sunday evening, a 25-year-old man was slashed in the arm on the uptown F train platform at Second Avenue and East Houston Street, authorities said. The knife-wielding menace fled on foot following the attack that cops say unfolded just after 6 p.m.
Felony assaults within the city's transit system have seen about a 5% decrease so far this year, according to the latest NYPD data, updated Oct. 13. Misdemeanor assaults, which are considered to be less serious, have dipped by about 2%.
