Witnesses were repeatedly told to lower his mask for identification. Three NYPD officers testified about finding a four-inch shiv in Rivera’s rectum after he was shot and taken to Jamaica Hospital. Rivera reportedly said he had another weapon inside and threatened to remove it himself. Police say the blade was wrapped in a blue balloon and may have been intended to be smuggled into jail.
