The new year in New York subway started off violently with two stabbings occurring within minutes of each other, highlighting a concerning pattern of ongoing crime.
The first stabbing happened at 9:26 a.m. at the 110 Street-Cathedral Parkway station where a 30-year-old man was attacked during an argument.
Just 20 minutes later, a separate incident occurred on a Bronx-bound 2 train where a 31-year-old man was stabbed in the back.
Both victims were taken to hospitals and are expected to survive, while investigations continue into the circumstances of these violent acts.
