Justin Herde, Alfredo Trinidad, and Betty Cotto were arrested in connection with the killing of William Alvarez on a southbound D train. Alvarez was shot in the chest during an argument, and the suspects fled the train at a specific station.
About 1,000 of the system's roughly 6,500 cars currently have surveillance cameras, part of an effort initiated in 2022 to increase safety on the subway system.
