Responsibility for snow removal is split: MTA operates buses, DSNY clears streets, DOT contracts JCDecaux to clear sheltered bus stops, and adjacent property owners must clear unsheltered stops. Sanitation and seasonal workers removed snow where property owners did not. Freezing temperatures persisted into the weekend, slowing natural melt. DSNY deployed machines at multiple sites to address frozen piles and accelerate removal.
