Tim Cruddas challenged a 130 fine from Kingston Council for driving in a bus lane during roadworks. The council twice rejected his appeal, but an independent adjudicator overturned the fine.
Mr Cruddas argued he drove in the bus lane due to safety concerns at a busy junction. The adjudicator ruled in his favor based on the Traffic Order 2014 exemption for avoiding accidents.
The ex-police officer emphasized the importance of advanced driver certification and understanding traffic rules. He believes other drivers may have faced similar unfair fines during the chaotic works.
