Apollo Quiboloy, a prominent Filipino pastor and close ally of former President Duterte, was arrested on child sex trafficking charges after being charged by the Philippine Department of Justice.
Authorities have been conducting operations at Quiboloy's church compound in Davao for two weeks, deploying around 3,000 police officers before his surrender to the police.
Duterte criticized the police's arrest efforts as excessive and described Quiboloy's complex legal situation following President Marcos Jr's rise as a conspiracy involving U.S. agencies.
Quiboloy, proclaiming himself as the 'appointed son of God,' claims the Marcos administration colluded with the FBI and CIA to extradite him to the United States.
