State Police Major Stephen Eudice emphasized, 'This trooper - his one and only intention was to help someone who appeared to need help,' highlighting Mascia's selfless actions.
County Executive Bruce Blakeman expressed relief, stating, 'We're very grateful it wasn't worse news,' after visiting Mascia post-surgery in the hospital.
Despite the chaos, Trooper Mascia demonstrated professionalism, reporting, 'Shots fired! Shots fired! I'm hit! I think my kneecap is broken,' immediately after being shot.
