The NYPD responded to shots fired at a Brooklyn subway where a suspect wielding a knife was shot by officers, injuring bystanders and an officer.
In chaotic moments on the L train platform, a bystander took the knife from the scene after the suspect was shot, leading police to seek that individual.
NYPD Chief Jeffrey Maddrey reported the suspect threatened an officer while brandishing a knife, stating, 'I'm going to kill you if you don't stop following me.'
The suspect, Derell Mickells, had a significant criminal history and had been hospitalized multiple times for emotional disturbances prior to this incident.
