"First Deputy NYPD Commissioner Tania Kinsella joined Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark and inside 188 West 230th St. to cut the ribbon on the building, they charge will be instrumental in tackling sex crime in the borough, but will also create a warmer, more comfortable space for victims and their families. Police say that every aspect of construction was taken into consideration, from interview rooms to waiting areas, in order to prioritize emotional safety and well-being."
A new state-of-the-art Special Victims Unit facility opened at 188 West 230th St. in the Bronx. The facility co-locates NYPD SVU detectives with the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, Safe Horizon, and domestic violence responders to provide integrated, immediate support. The design emphasizes privacy and emotional safety through features such as interview rooms and welcoming waiting areas to create a warmer, more comfortable environment for victims and families. First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella and Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark participated in the ribbon-cutting. The new center replaces the SVU operating out of the Fort Apache station house, whose future use remains unclear.
