Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani tapped several government veterans for key administration roles and retained Dr. Mitch Katz as CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals. Katz has led the system since 2017, guided its COVID-19 response, and oversaw a financial turnaround and expanded access. Dr. Jason Graham will remain the city medical examiner after serving in an acting capacity since 2013. Mir Bashar continues as chief administrative officer with prior City Hall experience, and Michael Garner remains chief business diversity officer. Several top posts, including the schools chancellor, had not been announced before the inauguration.
