Eddie Howe expressed hope that striker Alexander Isak will remain with Newcastle United despite his wish to explore a move. Isak did not travel for Newcastle's pre-season tour due to a minor injury, but reports indicate he is keen on a transfer, with Liverpool showing interest. Howe emphasized Isak's popularity within the team and mentioned that conversations with the player are confidential. Currently, there are no contract negotiations, and Newcastle reportedly seeks at least £130m for his departure, though his contract runs until 2028.
Howe stated, "Of course there are things going on behind the scenes. Conversations that happen between Alex and ourselves, and Alex and the club, will stay private."
He added, "He is very popular in the dressing room and we would love him to continue his journey at Newcastle. I certainly hope he stays. It's football, who knows what the future will bring."
