The New York City Council voted to approve construction of a 25,000-seat soccer stadium for the New York City Football Club in Queens, near Citi Field.
The proposed stadium includes affordable housing, a hotel, retail space, and open areas, with a 49-year lease to the club's owner, City Football Group.
The majority owner, City Football Group, will finance the stadium construction, estimated at $780 million, with the City funding infrastructure.
The project is led by Sheik Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, who also controls Manchester City, bringing real hope for completion by 2027.
