"As the SUV approaches the Foch Avenue stop sign, the driver does not come to a full stop, and quickly accelerates into the intersection. After suddenly seeing the Tesla, the SUV driver slams on the brakes, avoiding what could've been a serious T-bone collision by only a few feet. The SUV driver then reverses out of the intersection and waits for the Tesla to move before continuing along Foch Avenue."
Dash cam footage captured two cars narrowly avoiding a collision in South Beach, Staten Island, during evening rush hour on Oct. 1. A silver SUV approached a stop sign at Foch Avenue near Hickory Avenue without coming to a full stop and quickly accelerated into the intersection. A white Tesla approached the same intersection on Hickory Avenue, which lacks a stop sign. The SUV driver braked suddenly upon seeing the Tesla, preventing a T-bone collision by only a few feet. The SUV then reversed out of the intersection and waited for the Tesla to pass before continuing. Viewers were invited to submit reckless driving footage to the transportation reporter.
