Gomez then proceeded in reverse on Benham Street against the posted direction until he struck an unoccupied van."
"Edwin Cruz Gomez, of Nostrand Avenue in Uniondale, was arraigned Oct. 7 in Queens Supreme Court on a 15-count indictment that additionally charged him with aggravated vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting for allegedly slamming his SUV into 16-year-old Jhoanny Saray Gomez-Alvarez and her 32-year-old mother moments after he sexually propositioned them, setting off a drunken brawl."
Edwin Cruz Gomez was arraigned Oct. 7 in Queens Supreme Court on a 15-count indictment including murder, attempted murder, aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, and leaving the scene. On Sept. 13 at about 4:10 a.m., Gomez encountered a 16-year-old girl and her family outside the Prima Donna Restaurant on Roosevelt Avenue in Elmhurst and allegedly propositioned the girl and her mother. A verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation involving the victim's stepfather. After parties separated, Gomez drove his double-parked 2009 Chevy Suburban onto the sidewalk, striking and pinning the teen against a light pole, also hitting her mother and stepfather, then reversed into an unoccupied van and left the scene.
