A 40-year-old Hungarian man, after accidentally leaving his luggage on a train, jumped onto the exterior of a high-speed train travelling at 170mph, gripping on for 20 miles.
The unidentified man told police he chose to cling to the side of the train because he had left his luggage on it, demonstrating a reckless decision for a personal item.
Authorities were alerted by witnesses who spotted him, leading to the train being brought to a controlled stop after he rode on the exterior for 20 miles.
While the man survived without injury, he faces legal consequences for traveling without a valid ticket and poses a serious danger to himself and train operations.
