Since the commencement of operations on March 11, 2024, over 5,300 vehicles with fake or altered license plates have been seized. A total of 38 enforcement operations resulted in 1,893 vehicles being towed, with approximately $11.5 million in unpaid tolls attributed to these vehicles. The number of unbillable tolls from ghost cars has dropped by 20% as a result of these initiatives. MTA police, working with various law enforcement agencies, have issued around 16,000 summonses so far this year. Mayor Eric Adams noted that NYC agencies have removed over 110,000 ghost cars since 2022, enhancing public safety.
