More than 1,000 Boerum Hill and Park Slope customers without heat and power

"More than 1,000 customers in Park Slope and Boerum Hill are currently without power, that's according to Con Ed's outage map. The outages first began Saturday after two manhole fires broke out along 4th Avenue leaving people with partial power. Since then, Con Ed has been on the scene working to restore power. Residents tell News 12 power and heat has gone out completely since then."

""We've been without heat and water for days now, and our landlord is telling us to go out and get snow to put into our toilets to flush them," said Able Parris, a Park Slope resident. A spokesperson for Con Ed explained to News 12 that the snow and salt from the road has severely damaged their underground equipment making repairs more difficult."

Several residents report complete loss of heat and water since the fires. A Con Ed spokesperson said snow and road salt severely damaged underground equipment, complicating repairs.
