Michael Grimm, a former U.S. representative, has been paralyzed from the chest down after falling from a horse during a polo tournament on September 22.
Mr. Grimm required emergency surgery following the fall and his colleague, Greg Kelly, described him as a great horseman who was seriously injured.
Despite his political controversies, including a felony tax evasion conviction that led to his resignation and a prison sentence, Mr. Grimm's recent accident has garnered sympathy.
Friends from Staten Island, like former councilman Vincent Ignizio, confirmed the severity of Grimm’s injury, indicating that he sustained serious neck damage leading to paralysis.
