Met Police officer uses derogatory, disrespectful and racist' slur
Briefly

PC Mia Korell was accused of using derogatory language towards black officers during an off-duty encounter with Inspector Alistair Phillips. Although she is also a black officer, a misconduct panel determined that her use of the term "cotton pickers" was racist and constituted gross misconduct. The panel remarked on the context and found no motive for the allegation to be fabricated. PC Korell received a final written warning, signaling serious concerns about her professional conduct, despite ruling she is not inherently racist.
"The panel accepts the officer used the word cotton pickers in a derogatory, disrespectful and racist manner… the word is racist in nature."
"Although these words were discriminatory, the panel does not consider the officer to be inherently racist, Mr Prins told the hearing in central London on Tuesday."
