Donovan Kenlyn, 39, chased and punched passenger Samer Jawad at Baker Street station on October 27, 2022. Minutes later, he propelled Angel Cambeiro onto the tracks at Finchley Road, narrowly missing live rails.
Kenlyn was cleared of attempting to murder Mr. Cambeiro and causing grievous bodily harm with intent, but found not guilty by reason of insanity for multiple charges related to the attacks on strangers due to schizophrenia.
The verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity means Kenlyn is likely to face a hospital order, as it does not constitute an acquittal by the jury on the charges.
The prosecutor highlighted that the 35-minute spree of violence had no known motive, emphasizing the gravity of the attacks against members of the public.
Victim Mr. Cambeiro described the moment of the attack: '... all I remember was I was down on the rail tracks.' His statement portrayed the sudden and unprovoked nature of the violent act.
