""It just takes a couple of steps and a whole lot of time to be able to accomplish your goals,""
""As long as you have time, you can get from point A to point B,""
""I'd be soaking wet, and then I'd be drying out in the sun. Then at the end of the day, it poured on me for like three hours getting to the finish.""
""It's been haunting me ever since. I wanted to really go back out there and prove to myself that I can finish what I started.""
Ryan Clifford, a 28-year-old Seaford resident and co-owner of Ryco's Escape Room & Lounge, ran 572.55 miles from Buffalo to the Brooklyn Bridge in 8 days and 13 hours. The route followed the fully connected Empire Trail eastbound to Albany and then south through the Hudson River Valley. Clifford faced heatwaves, intermittent showers, and a nor'easter while traversing asphalt, cinder, and dirt. A previous 2022 attempt ended 80 miles from the finish due to shin inflammation. Clifford trained extra hard to surpass the May 2024 record of nine days and 11 hours.
