The NYC DOT launched a limited sale of "Welcome to Queens" street signs to celebrate the borough's diversity. Only 50 hand-crafted signs are available for purchase, each priced at $100 through the CityStore website. Funds from the sale will contribute to the city's general fund. NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez emphasized Queens as reflective of New York's diversity, while DCAS Commissioner Louis A. Molina noted that these signs allow New Yorkers to own a piece of the borough's rich history.
New York's greatest strength is its diversity, and no borough better reflects this diversity than Queens. Queens truly is the World's Borough, home to residents from more than 120 countries across the globe.
As the most diverse place on the planet with a rich history that goes back centuries, these signs give New Yorkers a chance to take home a piece of that story - their story - while supporting the city they love.
Only 50 of the hand-crafted signs produced by the DOT's Maspeth-based Sign Shop are available for purchase through the CityStore website.
Proceeds from the sale of the signs will benefit the city's general fund.
