LI high-school robotics whiz makes prosthetic for 3-legged shelter dog: 'Deserves a good family to be with'
Briefly

Sarah Barros, a 16-year-old robotics club leader from Southampton High School, is creating a 3D-printed prosthetic leg for Tryla, a three-legged pitbull mix in a local shelter. Driven by the desire to help Tryla find a loving home, Sarah raised funds independently to manufacture the limb. Tryla lost her leg after an accident and has struggled to find an adopter due to perceived management issues. The initiative began when a volunteer, inspired by similar projects, reached out to Sarah and her classmates for assistance.
I feel like a lot of the reason she's not adopted is because people see too much management, too much hassle.
I thought we could do that here, and I reached out to the high school right away.
We sent out emails to everyone, parents, went around after school talking to all the teachers.
