Kerr 'terrified for life' in taxi, court told
Briefly

Sam Kerr, an Australian footballer, recounted a terrifying experience in a taxi ride where she felt trapped and feared for her life. During her trial for allegedly causing racially aggravated harassment, she described how the taxi driver locked the doors and drove dangerously, echoing the fears surrounding the murder of Sarah Everard. Kerr voiced feelings of panic, leading her partner, Kristie Mewis, to shatter the rear window to escape. She also spoke about her experiences with racism, revealing her mixed heritage as white Anglo-Indian.
Ms Kerr told the jury she had put her head out of the window when she began to feel sick before the driver closed it and began to ‘drive dangerously’. The driver took the couple to Twickenham police station, where the incident with PC Lovell happened.
Kerr expressed feeling unprotected during the taxi ride, noting that Sarah Everard's murder remained 'prominent' in her thoughts as they were 'trapped' in the locked taxi.
