The World Health Organization has reported a successful start to its polio vaccination campaign, exceeding its targets after just three days, immunizing about a quarter of Gaza's children under 10.
Despite the ongoing violence, which saw Israeli forces kill at least 35 people in Gaza, brief pauses in fighting have allowed medical efforts such as the polio vaccinations to continue.
The campaign to vaccinate over 640,000 children gained urgency following the first confirmed polio case in Gaza in 25 years, prompting rapid response measures amid conflict.
Israeli military actions included the targeting of individuals believed to be associated with Hamas, as the armed group continued its response against Israeli forces in several neighborhoods of Gaza.
