On Tuesday, Dec. 9 shortly before 6 p.m., a human skull was found in the bushes off the Riegelmann Boardwalk at Coney Island, police confirm. On Wednesday, Dec. 10 in the afternoon additional remains including arms, legs and other bones were recovered from the same spot. The New York Medical Examiner and NYPD are investigating. The Medical Examiner has not released cause of death and the person has not been identified. Investigators say the remains had been in the bushes for some time. Some residents described the discovery as spooky and unsettling and expressed hope it would not happen again.
