Six people approached and assaulted a 50-year-old man around 4:30 a.m. on July 4 in front of 827 59th Street, striking him multiple times with an iron stick and causing pain and swelling. The group robbed the victim of approximately $800 and fled in a dark-colored Mercedes-Benz SUV heading west on 59th Street toward Eighth Avenue. The victim was hospitalized in stable condition at Maimonides Medical Center. NYPD released photographs and descriptions of five attackers and offered descriptions for all six suspects. NYPD officials over the weekend released photographs of five of the attackers suspected to be involved. The first is described as a man last seen wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black slippers and white socks and carrying a black backpack.
The third is described as a woman last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers. The fourth is a man last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers. The fifth is a man with a heavy build who wears glasses. He was last seen wearing a black shirt over a gray T-shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers. The sixth is a man last seen wearing a black T-shirt, black pants, and white sneakers.
