While the westbound HOV lane remained open the other westbound lanes were closed for hours while the wrecked vehicles were removed."
A multi-vehicle collision occurred on the westbound Long Island Expressway in Blissville just before 9 a.m., involving nine vehicles in a chain-reaction pileup over the Dutch Kills tributary. Four people sustained injuries: one victim was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in critical condition, while three others were taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious condition. First responders extracted multiple individuals from damaged vehicles. The westbound HOV lane remained operational, but other westbound lanes closed for several hours during vehicle removal. Some vehicles stacked on top of others during the crash. The NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad continues investigating with no arrests made.
