About 270 firefighters and paramedics responded, and crews made an exterior attack before re-entering to extinguish the main body of the blaze using multiple hoses. One FDNY member and one civilian suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for evaluation. Dozens of residents were displaced but the building was evacuated without loss of life. The fire was the first multiple-alarm blaze in New York City for 2026, following another five-alarm Bronx fire on Dec. 18.
