Ronald De Souza, the last remaining member of the Stockwell Six, could see his long-standing conviction quashed. Originally accused over 50 years ago for attempting to rob a British Transport Police officer, De Souza’s fate was closely tied to the quashing of convictions for his co-defendants in 2021. The Criminal Cases Review Commission has deemed his case shows similar circumstances, suggesting the Court of Appeal might similarly rule in his favor. New evidence has emerged casting doubt on the credibility of the police involved in the case.
"The CCRC has concluded that the Court of Appeal is likely to take the same approach to Mr De Souza's conviction as it did for his co-defendant Mr Johnson."
"Therefore there is a real possibility the Court of Appeal will now quash Mr De Souza's conviction."
