Giovanni Cucuzza, an NYPD officer, saved a man's life at a Staten Island bowling alley in 2019, an event he describes as a defining moment in his career. While off-duty, Cucuzza performed CPR and used a defibrillator to revive the man, who made a full recovery. His actions earned him a promotion to detective, part of a larger recognition of 177 officers. He sees service as a family tradition and finds deep satisfaction in saving lives, hoping to embody the ideals of policing through his work in the Intelligence Bureau.
The proud father of a newborn boy, Cucuzza said being a member of the force is a family affair. His brother is a lieutenant, his cousin a sergeant and he grew up watching other members who were part of the department.
Saving someone's life is always the greatest feeling - knowing that someone can extend their life and be able to continue enjoying their families.
