Exclusive | Killer who executed cop over pair of trendy sunglasses released from prison, sparking outrage
Briefly

Lee Ernest Walker, convicted of murdering NYPD Officer Juan Andino in 1984 over a pair of stolen sunglasses, has been released on parole after serving 40 years. The release has devastated the officer's family, particularly his brother, Felix Andino, who advocates for stricter penalties for cop killers. Since 2017, the New York State Parole Board has seen an increase in the release of cop killers, prompting concern from the Police Benevolent Association that the board's policies favor inmates over public safety and law enforcement.
It just hits you in the gut," the cop's brother, Felix Andino, 77, told The Post.
I believe in capital punishment," the emotional Andino continued. "He was a thug. And if you take a life, your life should end.
The board gives more weight to an inmate's age and record while in prison - and less to the savagery of the crime they committed.
It appears that parole board has far too many pro-criminal activists whose intention is to release cop-killers," PBA President Patrick Hendry said.
