Stephen P. Miller, 85, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter for assisting Doreen Brodhead in her suicide, received five years' probation but faces no prison time.
Miller’s lawyer argued that while his client violated New York's law against assisting in a suicide, he acted compassionately to fulfill Brodhead's wishes.
A former doctor from Arizona, Stephen P. Miller, had faced a significant prison term but ultimately entered a plea agreement dropping additional assault charges.
Despite the legal repercussions, Miller's lawyer maintained that morally, ‘Stephen Miller did nothing wrong’ with respect to the actions taken to assist Brodhead.
