Reginald Newkirk, 51, was charged Wednesday with concealment of a human corpse - a day after the unidentified woman, believed to be in her 20s, was discovered possibly dead from an overdose in the hallway of the building.
He spent more than a year in state prison on a 2015 second-degree assault conviction, state corrections records show.
